🌿 Healthy Green Gram Puttu Recipe (Pachai Payaru / Paasi Paruppu Puttu) Ingredients:
  • Green gram (whole moong) – 1 cup
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Water – as needed for grinding
  • Ghee or coconut oil – as needed for cooking
  • Grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Jaggery powder – ¼ cup (adjust to taste)
  • Cashews – 10
  • Raisins – 10
  • Cardamom powder – a pinch
Instructions: Soak & Grind:
  1. Soak green gram overnight or until soft.
  2. Drain completely and grind with a pinch of salt and just enough water to make a coarse paste. Grind in batches if needed.
Cook the Dosa:
  1. Heat ghee or coconut oil on a dosa pan.
  2. Spread the paste like a thick dosa, drizzle ghee around the edges.
  3. Cook slowly on medium to low heat until both sides are well done.
  4. Repeat with the remaining batter.
Cool & Blend:
  1. Let the dosas cool slightly.
  2. Break into small pieces and pulse in a blender to a coarse puttu-like texture. Do not over-blend.
Prepare Add-ins:
  1. Roast cashews and raisins in 1 tbsp of ghee until golden.
  2. Add them to the puttu along with grated coconut, jaggery powder, and cardamom powder.
Mix & Serve:
  1. Mix everything well.
  2. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
