Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 egg
- Water (if needed)
For the filling:
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
For the vanilla glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
1. Prepare the dry ingredients:
- In a mixing bowl, add 2 and 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Mix well and set aside.
2. Prepare the wet ingredients:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, heat 3/4 cup of milk and 3 tablespoons of butter until the butter melts and the mixture is warm (but not too hot).
- Once warm, add 2 teaspoons of instant yeast to the mixture and stir until fully combined.
3. Combine wet and dry ingredients:
- Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients.
- Add 1 egg and mix everything together until a soft dough forms.
- If needed, add a few tablespoons of water to make the dough more pliable.
- Cover the dough with a lid and let it rest for 10 minutes.
4. Prepare the filling:
- In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup of brown sugar and 3 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Mix well.
5. Knead the dough:
- After the dough has rested, sprinkle a little flour on your work surface.
- Place the dough on the surface and gently knead for about 3 minutes until a soft dough forms.
6. Roll out the dough:
- Roll the dough into a rectangular shape as shown in the video.
- Spread softened butter over the dough and then evenly sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top.
7. Shape the rolls:
- Roll up the dough tightly, then use a sharp knife to cut it into 10-12 rolls.
- Arrange the rolls in a lightly greased baking pan.
8. Let the rolls rise:
- Cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil, and allow the rolls to rise in a warm place for 60 to 90 minutes, or until they've doubled in size.
9. Bake the rolls:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 25-27 minutes, or until they are lightly browned.
10. Prepare the vanilla glaze:
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by combining 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of milk, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.
- Mix until smooth and set aside.
11. Final touches:
- Once the cinnamon rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
- Using a knife or icing spatula, spread the vanilla glaze over the warm rolls.
12. Serve:
- Serve the cinnamon rolls immediately, and enjoy!
Tips:
- If the rolls puff up too much during baking, gently press down with the back of a spoon.
- Make sure the dough is soft but not too sticky for easy rolling.
