In today’s video, you’ll see our adventures from Day 5 and Day 6 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We’ll take you along on our half-day trip to Higüey City. We began Day 5 with a delicious breakfast. We planned to spend the morning at the swimming pool until lunchtime.

Tonight’s evening show was a pirate-themed performance, and it was quite good. Since we’re going on a trip to Higüey City tomorrow, we need to head to bed early. Today is Day 6, and we’re going on a half-day trip to Higüey City, which is located 40 km from our resort. We booked this trip through our airline representative at the lobby. The company taking us on this trip is Coming 2, the same company that organized our full-day adventure to Domitai Park. They’ve sent a van with full air conditioning, which picked up guests from our resorts in Bahia Principe around 7:55 AM. We’re expected to return around 12:30 PM, and we’ll head back to the resort for lunch. We have now arrived in Higüey City. First, we’ll visit the oldest church, which was built in the 1500s. Come, let’s explore this historic church and step back in time to see one of the oldest churches in the Americas. It is a historic site that dates back to the early colonial period. Higüey City, located in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic, is a lively place known for its cultural and historical significance. Today, our city tour will start with a visit to the Parish Church of San Dionisio, the oldest church in the Americas, built in the 1500s. This historic church offers a glimpse into the early colonial period. After that, we’ll explore the Basilica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, a modern church built in 1971 and an important religious site. Besides these significant landmarks, Higüey offers a vibrant atmosphere with its bustling markets and local life, making it a great place to explore and experience Dominican culture. We have now arrived at the Basilica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, which is not far from the oldest church. Completed in 1971, this modern church is a significant landmark of Higüey City and one of the most important religious sites in the Dominican Republic. It serves as a major pilgrimage destination. There is a dress code for entering the church. If you’re not appropriately dressed, they will provide you with clothing. Now we’re heading to our next and final stop: a factory visit located in Bavaro, close to our resort. We’ve arrived at the factory. First, we’ll see how they make cigars. Bavaro is famous for its cigar production. Skilled artisans hand-roll the cigars and age them to improve their flavor. Many factories offer tours where you can watch the process, taste the cigars, and buy them directly.” Next, let’s visit the jewelry store where they make and sell silver jewelry with Larimar, a natural stone from the Dominican Republic. It’s really beautiful but a bit expensive. Larimar is a rare, turquoise-blue gemstone found only here, often called the ‘Caribbean gem’ for its stunning color. Next, we visited a coffee factory. Coffee is a key product in the Dominican Republic, including Bavaro. Known for its high-quality Arabica beans, the coffee is grown in the island’s mountainous regions. The factory tour shows the roasting and packaging process and often includes tastings of Dominican coffee. Next, we visited a chocolate factory where they make chocolate, cocoa powder, and cocoa butter. The tour shows how the cocoa beans are processed into these products, and you can taste different kinds of chocolate. Lastly, we visited a rum factory where you can sample different rums and buy their products. We’ve completed our half-day city tour and are heading back to our resort, which is 15 minutes away from the factory. We’re very satisfied with the trip, which was well-organized by the tour company 'Coming 2.' We felt safe throughout the tour and would definitely recommend it. We had lunch at the resort’s buffet. After the city tour, we were quite tired, so we decided to rest for the entire afternoon. Our next video will be about our catamaran trip, which will be the final video in our Punta Cana vacation series.
