Simple,flavorful and yummy stir fry / poriyal with raw banana, that goes well with white rice and puli kuzhambu/tamarind based curry. Especially when you make this poriyal in manchatti/earthenware pot the flavor will be awesome.

- 4 to 5 no’s – Raw banana/Vazhakkai
- 1 big – Onion chopped
- 4 to 5 no’s – Green chilies (slit open)
- 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
- 1/4 cup – Coconut grated
- Coriander leaves for garnishing (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 2 to 3 tbsp – Sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp – Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp – Split black gram / urad dal
- Fresh curry leaves
- Pinches of asafoetida
- Wash, peel and grate raw bananas and set it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan/manchatti, season it with mustard seeds,split black gram/urad dal, green chilies, curry leaves and asafoetida.
- Add chopped onions and saute until they reach translucent stage. Followed by grated raw banana, turmeric powder, and salt to taste, mix well gently.
- Cover with a lid and cook until the raw banana is soft. Finally garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves. Serve with hot rice and curry of your choice.
- You may add green chilies as per your spice level.
- Raw bananas should be mixed gently as it is very thin and easily breakable.
