Simple fish fry with homemade masala powder along with lemon juice and sesame oil. It goes well with white rice,yummy fish curry and rasam.

- 10 to 15 pieces – Fish fillets / Nei meen/ Tilapia
- 1/4 tsp – Fennel seeds / sombu
- 6 to 7 cloves – Garlic
- 1/4 tsp – Turmeric powder
- 1 to 2 tsp – Red chili powder ( or add as needed)
- 1 tsp – Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp – Garam masala powder
- 1/4 tsp – Cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp – Curry leaves powder (you can use fresh one too)
- 1 tsp – Lemon juice
- 1 tbsp – Sesame oil
- 3 tsp – Corn flour
- 2 tsp – rice flour
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Preparation method:
- Wash fish fillets with turmeric and lemon juice in a running water for 3 to 4 times, set aside.
- Take a blender / mixie, add garlic, fennel seeds, turmeric powder,cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder,curry leaves powder,corn flour,rice flour,grind it to coarse powder without adding any water.
- Now apply this paste to the fish fillets along with a tsp of lemon juice and a tbsp of sesame oil (If needed sprinkle little water) and let it rest for 30 minutes to 1 hour . Heat oil in a pan, fry the fish over medium flame on both sides till golden brown. Garnish it with onion rings and lemon wedges.
Notes:
- Always cook fish fillets in medium or low flame, that helps to cook fish thoroughly both outside and inside.
- You may increase or decrease red chili powder as per your spice level.
- I used tilapia fish but you can use any variety of fish.
- You may deep fry or shallow fry fish fillets.
