Chilli paneer dry is a indo Chinese dish prepared with paneer and spicy sauce. It's an yummy starter which goes well with any fried rice. Here comes the recipe.
Ingredients:
Serves : 4 people
For paneer fry:
- 2 cup - Paneer (cut into cubes) (around 30 cubes)
- 2 tbsp - Maida
- 2 tbsp - Corn flour
- 1/4 tsp - Red chilli powder
- 1 pinch - Baking soda
- Salt as needed
- Oil for deep frying
For making chilli paneer:
- 1 tbsp - Oil
- 1 tsp - Ginger garlic paste
- 1 no - Onion (chopped into cubes)
- 1/2 no - Green capsicum / pepper (cut into cubes)
- 1 tbsp - Soya sauce
- 1/2 to 1 tsp - Chilli garlic sauce (or as needed)
- 1 tsp - Tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp - Spring onions (chopped)
- Salt as needed
Preparation method:
For paneer fry:
- Take a mixing bowl, add maida, corn flour, red chilli powder, baking soda and salt, mix well to form a thick batter (like bajji batter) to coat paneer. Batter should not be too thick or too thin.
- Now add paneer to the batter and then deep fried them in hot oil until they are slightly golden brown in color. Drain in paper towel to remove excess oil, set aside.
For making chilli paneer:
- Heat oil in a pan, add ginger garlic paste and saute for few seconds. Add chopped onion and capsicum, saute until they are 3/4 done.
- Then add soya sauce, chilli garlic sauce, tomato sauce and required salt, saute until raw smell goes.
- Now add deep fried paneer and saute to stir fry for 1-2 minutes. Garnish with spring onion and serve hot.
Notes:
- Do not over crowd paneer while deep frying them.
- You can replace chilli garlic sauce with pepper powder or chilli sauce.
- If you kept paneer in freezer, then take it outside and thaw it for a while before deep fry them.
- You can also add a tsp of vinegar or lemon juice in this recipe.
- You can also shallow fry paneer cubes instead of deep-frying them to reduce the calories of this dish.

ReplyDeleteOhh! Regretted not seeing this recipe earlier. I could have made it for tomorrow for our vegetarian meal. Paneer isn't that popular over here because we have so many different types of tofu. I shall try with it for the same delicious flavors. Thanks for the recipe. I'm going crazy deciding on which and what veg dish to make anymore.
